This study aimed to analyze the radiation dose of head CT Scan using sequential and helical
scan methods in the Radiology Installation of Fatmawati Hospital.
The design of this study is quantitative with an observational approach conducted at the
Radiology Installation of Fatmawati Hospital in October 2021. The sample population was head
CT scan examinations in August 2021 - October 2021. There were 18 patients undergoing the
sequential scan method and 18 patients undergoing the helical scan method.
The results were the sequential scan method obtained an average CTDIvol value of 29.5161
mGy and an average DLP value of 546.3867 mGy-cm, the helical scan method obtained an
average CTDIvol value of 49.9456 mGy and an average DLP value of 981.8178 mGy-cm.
Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that there are differences in CTDIvol
and DLP values in the sequential and the helical scan methods, namely the dose value obtained
using the sequential scan method is lower than the helical scan method. According to the results of
statistical analysis, the value of the Wilcoxon sign rank test in the sequential and helical scan
methods shows p-value = 0.002, which means that there is a difference in the average radiation
dose value in the sequential and the helical scan methods.
