Appearance becomes one of the special attention for someone because it supports confidence and attractiveness. One part of the body that more get attention is skin. The function from cosmetics are to clean, maintenance, increase attractiveness and change the appearance. For example, using the face wash regularly as an early stage of treating the skin. Although it has many of function in it, the content of salicylic acid in cosmetics should be certainly considered because if it overused with high levels, it can impact on the health of the body like local irritation, acute inflammation, even ulceration so it is necessary to supervise manufacture and the amount of using this content. So this research aim to find out if salicylic acid content are applicable conditions or not. The methods that used in this study are Thin Layer Chromatography and Spectrophotodensitometry to determine the total of salicylic acid. The results showed salicylic acid levels in the sample tested were 2.51%. The result doesn’t meet the specified requirement that no more than 2%.
