Breast cancer is a malignant epithelial cells that lining the lobes and ducts of the breast but it is uncontrollable and causes malignancy that usually forms lumps in the breast and can cause death.
This research aims to analyze the dose of Organ At Risk around the breast that patient's received using 3D- CRT and Half Beam Block techniques. The design of this research is quantitative with an experimental approach.
The research was conducted in March-April 2021, the data population of breast cancer patients in 2021 with 10 female breast cancer patients as samples. The instruments used were TPS computers, secondary patient data, worksheets and DVH. The obtained data will be used to create planning techniques of 3D-CRT and Half Beam Block techniques in Treatment Planning System. The data were analyzed by statistical test using T-Test Paired Samples and Wilcoxon test with SPSS.
The research results are Organ at risk that has been researched such as Heart, Right Lung and Left Lung in both methods received radiation doses that are not statistically different but the radiation dose received by Organ At Risk were not exceed the tolerance limit which is 2500 cGy. But visually, there is a small difference by using half beam block technique compared with 3D-CRT technique.
The conclusion is for breast cancer cases radiation, it is better to use the 3D-CRT technique because the organ at risk received doses that are not significantly different. If using 3C-DRT technique it will be more effective because it does not require a lot of time so it saves more time of radiation to patients and facilitates radiotherapist while working. In addition, it is also facilitates the medical physicists in planning radiation data.
