Malformation Central Nervous System (CNS) is a neurological disorder that affects the structure and function of the brain or Spinal Cord. A characteristic of CNS is the lack of flow in the lymphatic system due to poor mechanisms that regulate the transition of cells. CNS is the common abnormality in fetal MRI examination.
This research aims to evaluate the examination procedure, the optimal usage of sequence and to analyze the accuracy of MRI image in fetal MRI examination with a CNS diagnosis based on literature review in Library of Politeknik Kesehatan Kementerian Kesehatan Jakarta II, PubMed website and the American Journal of Roentgenology (AJR) from 2015 – 2020.
The design of this research is descriptive qualitative. This research was conducted from March to May 2020. The population and sample in this study were those who performed MRI Fetal examination with the diagnosis of Malformation Central Nervous System (CNS), based on literature review from Library of Politeknik Kesehatan Kementerian Kesehatan Jakarta II, PubMed website and American Journal of Roentgenology (CNS). AJR) 2015 - 2020. The methods of data collection methods were literature study, journal reviews, scientific articles, literature reviews which relate to research. The instruments research were journals, scientific articles, literature reviews related to the research concept. Data processing and analysis in this research uses descriptive analysis. Obtained data from the literature review were analyzed based on the theoretical basis that has been collected so the conclucion could be obtained.
The results of this study shows fetal MRI examination techniques can visualize abnormalities in the sample. The sequences in this examination were SSFSE, which visualize fetal surface structures that contain Amniotic Fluid, and various body cavities that consists of fluids such as Brain, Ventricles, Eyes, Nasal Cavities, Oral Cavity, and urinary tract. FIESTA for imaging fluid-filled structures such as dilated renal systems or cystic masses. SPGR to detect Hemorrhage, Calcification, Meconium, Thyroid Tissue, and DWI can show Ischemic Lession.
