The increase in the volume and diversity of waste due to population growth has become one of the major environmental problems. Based on the National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN) data in 2025, household waste was the largest source of waste, accounting for 55.69%. Inappropriate waste management practices may have negative impacts on the environment. Households, as the smallest unit of the social structure, are the primary producers of waste, particularly in densely populated residential areas such as Depok Public Housing (Rusunawa Depok), Cilangkap Subdistrict, Tapos District, Depok City, West Java. \r\n\r\nThis study employed an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. The scope of the study included the relationship between housewives’ knowledge and individual characteristics, including age and education, as well as waste management facilities, including household waste containers, temporary waste disposal sites (TPS), and waste chutes, and waste management practices. Data were collected through surveys or observations and interviews using questionnaires involving 84 housewife respondents.\r\n\r\nThe results showed a significant relationship between waste management facilities, specifically waste storage containers (p-value = 0.003), and waste management practices. In contrast, knowledge (p-value = 0.161) and individual characteristics of housewives, including age (p-value = 1.000) and education (p-value = 0.469), were not significantly associated with waste management practices.\r\n\r\nIt can be concluded that waste management facilities, particularly household waste containers, are significantly associated with waste management, whereas individual characteristics, including age and education, and housewives’ knowledge are not significantly associated with waste management. The recommendations of this study are addressed to the management to improve the provision and maintenance of waste management facilities and to conduct routine and practical educational activities. Household women are expected to improve the implementation of waste management, particularly waste sorting, the provision of appropriate waste containers, and the utilization of organic and inorganic waste to reduce waste generation.
