EVALUASI EDUKASI PERSIAPAN PASIEN TERHADAP KUALITAS CITRA PADA PEMERIKSAAN APPENDICOGRAM DI RSUD KOJA

Appendicography is a radiographic examination which uses barium contrast media to \r\nevaluate the appendiceal region, where image quality is highly dependent on the adequate \r\npatient preparation. In this matter, effective patient education is expected to improve the \r\npatients’ understanding and compliance with the preparation instructions, therefore it can \r\nsignificantly contribute to an optimal image quality. \r\nThis research aimed to determine the level of patient understanding, analyse the effect of \r\neducational effectiveness on image quality, and assess image quality in appendicography \r\nexaminations. This research applied a qualitative descriptive method with a case study \r\napproach, through among the other things observation, questionnaires, image assessment \r\nby a radiologist, and interviews. As for the research sample, it consisted of 10 patients who \r\nwere divided into two groups namely one receiving education through a flip-chart \r\neducational tool and the other receiving education according to the hospital’s standard \r\noperating procedures (SOPs). \r\nThe research results showed that the flip-chart education group demonstrated a good level \r\nof understanding and achieved an optimal image quality, with a mean score of 1.0. In \r\ncontrast, the group that received education according to the hospital’s standard operating \r\nprocedures (SOPs) showed suboptimal results, with a mean score of 0.48. Subsequently, \r\nthe interview findings further indicated that the effectiveness of patient education plays a \r\nsubstantial role in improving image quality. \r\nIn conclusion, the findings of this research indicate that the patient education using a flip\r\nchart educational medium is more effective than education delivered according to the \r\nhospital’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) in improving the patient understanding \r\nand enhancing image quality in appendicography examinations. \r\nKeywords \r\nTranslated by: \r\n: Patient education, Appendicography, Image quality, Flip chart.
