UJI EFEKTIVITAS VARIASI UKURAN SERBUK CANGKANG KERANG HIJAU (PERNA VIRIDIS) SEBAGAI ALTERNATIF KOAGULAN DALAM MENURUNKAN KANDUNGAN COD PADA AIR LIMBAH PEMOTONGAN IKAN TAHUN 2025
The fish slaughtering industry in Pasar Jaya Cijantung, Pasar Rebo district, East Jakarta City discharges liquid waste directly into the water body without a treatment rnprocess. The COD level of waste reached 1,759 mg/L, exceeding the set quality standard (200 mg/L) based on the Regulation of the Minister of Environment No. 5 of 2014. This waste disposal has the potential to pollute the environment and disrupt aquatic ecosystems, including a decrease in dissolved oxygen levels. Moreover, this pollution can also affect the quality of raw water for the local communitys needs, thus proper waste management efforts are required through wastewater treatment facilities before being discharged into the environment. rnThis research is titled “Effectiveness Test of Variations in The Size of Green Mussel Shell Powder (Perna Viridis) as an Alternative Coagulant in Reducing Cod Content in Fish Slaughter Wastewater, 2025”. This experimental study aims to determine the effectiveness of variations in the size of green mussel shell powder (Perna Viridis) as an alternative biocoagulant in reducing COD levels in fish cutting wastewater, as well as to determine the optimal size variation. This research was conducted in the Chemistry Laboratory of the Environmental Health Department, using a sample of 7 liters of liquid waste from fish cutting at Pasar Jaya Cijantung and 13.5 grams of green mussel shell waste (Perna Viridis). The size variations used were mesh 50, mesh 60, and mesh 70, along with a control with 3 repetitions. rnThe research results show that the COD level of fish processing wastewater before treatment was 1,759 mg/L, and after treatment, the highest average was obtained in the 70 mesh size variation at 492 mg/L (72%), while the lowest average reduction was in the 50 mesh size variation at 624 mg/L (64.5%). The conclusion from this research statistically yielded a value (p-value = 0.929), which means (H0 fails to be rejected) that there is no significant difference in the reduction of COD levels in fish processing wastewater with variations in the size of biocoagulant powder from green mussel shells (Perna Viridis). rnrnLiterature : 41 (2000 – 2024) rnClassification Journal rn: 5 Environmental Health rn5 Fishery Wastewater rn4 Green Clam Shells rn15 Liquid Waste Treatment rn3 Regulations rn3 Research Methods rn6 General
