Markets are public places that generate large amounts of organic and wet waste from daily activities of vendors and buyers, particularly in vegetable, fruit, fish, and meat sections. If not properly managed, this waste can become a breeding ground for flies, which act as mechanical vectors transmitting diseases such as typhoid, and dysentery. Therefore, fly control measures are essential to prevent disease transmission.rnThe study titled The Relationship of Sanitation Facilities, Sanitation Conditions, and Physical Environmental Factors with the Fly Population Index at Food and Grocery Stalls in Ceger Market, South Tangerang City, 2025 aimed to determine the factors associated with fly population. This research used a cross-sectional design and involved a sample of 44 occupied food and grocery stalls.rnThe findings showed that the majority of stalls had fly population indices exceeding the quality standard (≥2 flies/flygrill). Sanitation facilities such as trash bins and wastewater drainage, as well as the general sanitation conditions of the vendors, did not meet required standards. Temperature levels were above the optimum range, while humidity remained within optimal limits.rnStatistically, there was a significant relationship between trash bin conditions and the fly population index (p-value = 0.016), and between sanitation conditions and fly population (p-value = 0.031). A significant relationship was also found between temperature and the fly population index (p-value = 0.021). However, no significant relationship was found between wastewater drainage (p-value = 0.541) or humidity (p-value = 1.000) and the fly population. It is recommended to improve environmental sanitation to control fly populations. Market managers can control fly populations by eliminating their breeding sites or reducing sources that attract flies.
