In this matter, two standard projections are generally used namely Anteroposterior (AP) and Lateral, with the patient positioned recumbently on the examination table. In the lateral projection, it is still a common practice to use a perpendicular central ray. However, according to Long (2016), an angled central ray is recommended for the lateral projection. Therefore, the researcher was motivated to analyse knee joint examinations in trauma cases using a lateral projection with a 5º cranial central ray carried out at Murni Teguh Sudirman Hospital, Jakarta.rnThis research aims to describe the rationale behind performing knee joint radiographic examinations in clinical trauma cases using a lateral projection with a 5º cranial central ray, and to analyse the resulting radiographic images obtained from this projection.rnThis research applied a qualitative method with descriptive approach, utilizing a field observation approach, literature review, and interviews. The research was conducted starting from May up to June 2025 at Murni Teguh Sudirman Hospital, Jakarta. As for the sample, they consisted of five patients who were referred for knee joint radiographic examination with clinical indications of trauma. Thereafter, the whole the data were then collected through among the other things procedure observations, documentation, and interviews with radiographers.rnThe results of the research indicate that this procedure is effective and consistent with reference standards. The use of a 5º cranial angulation in the lateral projection of the knee joint produced the most optimal image quality compared to images taken without angulation.rnKeywords : Knee Joint, Trauma, 5º Lateral Projection
