Background: pathogenically, breast tumours are breast abnormalities commonly found in the
women, classified into benign and malignant types. In this matter, metastasis plays a significant
role in the high mortality rate associated with breast cancer. Breast tumour metastasis refers to the
spread of malignant cells from the breast to other organs, such as bones, lungs, brain, and liver.
Tumour size is one of the factors influencing the likelihood of metastasis. On average, 5-10% of
breast cancers have already metastasized at the time of diagnosis. Metastasis occurs when cancer
cells detach and spread to other parts of the body via the bloodstream.
Research Objective: purposefully, this research aims to determine whether the technique of noncontrast thoracic CT scan examinations in breast tumour cases can effectively identify indications
of metastasis.
Research Design: this research applies a qualitative method with a case study approach. As for
the data collection, it was conducted through among the other things observation, interviews, and
documentation, followed by analysis using primary and secondary data collection techniques.
Research Findings: in conclusion, the reserach found significant differences in information
obtained from non-contrast thoracic CT scans in breast tumour cases with positive and negative
metastasis indications. Although non-contrast CT scans are simpler and faster, their results may
not be as detailed as contrast-enhanced CT scans, particularly in detecting small structures or
subtle changes. However, this technique is sufficiently effective in identifying metastasis
indications.
