Background: diagnostically, non-contrast CT Urography is an imaging examination designed to
evaluate the urinary tract's function, including the kidneys, ureters, and bladder, as well as detect
kidney abnormalities. In this matter, the examination begins with patient preparation, equipment and
material setup, patient positioning, examination protocols, and image reconstruction processes. In
relation to which, CT Urography is highly informative, detailed, and comprehensive, making it capable
of assessing the degree of kidney obstruction, particularly due to kidney stones. Kidney stones are solid
and hard formations in the kidneys made of minerals and salts.
Research Objectives: this research aims to investigate and evaluate non-contrast CT Urography
examination techniques, describe the procedural steps, and analyse image findings for clinical cases of
kidney stones.
Research Design: this research applies a quantitative research method with descriptive approach,
employing among the other things observation, documentation, questionnaires, interviews, and
literature review. As for this research, it was conducted in December 2024 at Radiology Department of
Meuraxa Regional General Hospital, Banda Aceh, the research included a sample of 10 patients
diagnosed with kidney stones.
Research Results: this research concludes that non-contrast CT Urography examinations provide
clear and detailed visualizations of kidney stones, including the delineation of the kidneys from the
surrounding tissues, the shape and size of stones, and their boundaries relative to adjacent structures.
Accordingly, stones in both the right and left kidneys are distinctly visualized without the use of
contrast media.
