Sinusitis is an inflammation of the paranasal sinuses that can be caused by viral, bacterial, or
anatomical structural abnormalities. CT Scan examination of the paranasal sinuses is very
important to evaluate clinical conditions, but image quality greatly determines the accuracy of the
diagnosis. This study aims to evaluate the quality of CT Scan images of the Paranasal Sinuses
(SPN) with a brain window in sinusitis cases.
This qualitative descriptive study uses primary data from sinusitis patients at Meuraxa General
Hospital, Banda Aceh City. The sample will be selected using a non-consecutive sampling method.
The research instruments include a 64-slice CT Scan, a workstation for post-processing, and an
image quality assessment form. Data analysis will include descriptive analysis and interviews
Window brain will be used to reconstruct images and evaluate quality parameters, including spatial
resolution, contrast, noise, and visibility of anatomical details. The research hypothesis is that the
use of window brain will provide image quality for anatomical and pathological evaluation in
sinusitis cases.
This study is expected to contribute to determining the optimal CT Scan examination protocol for
Paranasal Sinuses and improve the accuracy of sinusitis diagnosis.
