Purposefully, this research aims to analyse thoracic CT scan techniques for the
patients presenting with breathing difficulties (dyspnoea) undertaken at Datu Beru
Regional General Hospital, Takengon.
This research applies a qualitative method with descriptive approach involving
among the other things direct observation of examination procedures, image quality
assessment, and data collection through literature reviews and documentation. In this
matter, the research specifically focused on the patients with dyspnoea cases, using a GE
32-Slice MSCT scanner. The research was conducted starting from December 2024 up to
January 2025 carried out at Datu Beru Regional General Hospital, Takengon. Meanwhile,
the research population comprised the patients undergoing thoracic CT scans due to
dyspnoea, with a sample size of six patients. As for the research instruments, they
included observation sheets and image quality assessment forms. Thereafter, data
processing involved several stages, including editing and classifying data, coding data,
inputting and cleaning data, and analysing data. The analysis was carried out by
comparing processed data with established standards such as Standard Operating
Procedures (SOPs) and relevant theoretical frameworks.
The results showed that thoracic CT scans at Datu Beru Regional General
Hospital, Takengon, were performed in accordance with standard operating procedures,
encompassing equipment preparation, patient preparation, examination techniques, and
image reconstruction. A slice thickness of 5 mm was utilized as the standard to achieve
optimal image quality, while mediastinum and lung windows were applied to evaluate
lung structures and mediastinal tissues.
The average score from respondent evaluations of the images was 2.86 ± 0.03, indicating
that the thoracic CT scan images for dyspnoea cases were clear on a scale of 1 to 4.
