Background: pathologically a tumour is generally synonymous with the term neoplasm, referring
to an abnormal growth of tissue. Tumours are often simply defined as swelling or lumps, with the
term “true tumour” sometimes used to distinguish neoplasms from the other masses. In this matter,
neoplasms can be classified based on their nature, either benign or malignant. In relation to which,
non-contrast abdominal CT examinations have become routine for diagnosing various pathological
conditions. However, detailed information regarding image quality, particularly the effect of
rotation time in non-contrast abdominal CT scans, remains limited.
Research Design: This research adopts a qualitative method with descriptive approach. As for the
objective of the research, it is to evaluate the procedures for conducting CT abdominal scans and
analyse the effectiveness of non-contrast abdominal CT scans in identifying intra-abdominal
tumours undertaken at Radiology Department of Cut Nyak Dhien Regional General Hospital,
Meulaboh.
Research Findings: this research revealed significant differences in the analysis of non-contrast
abdominal CT scans for clinical intra-abdominal tumour cases. Although non-contrast CT scans
are simpler and faster, their results may not be as detailed as contrast-enhanced CT scans.
Contrast-enhanced CT scans can serve as a more precise alternative, particularly in identifying
tumour boundaries and detecting smaller structures or subtle changes. However, non-contrast CT
scans remain effective in determining the location and size of tumours, making them a reliable
method for evaluating intra-abdominal tumours and internal structures in specific cases.
