Background: Lung tumors refer to abnormal growths in lung tissue, which can be benign or
malignant. Malignant forms originate from primary epithelial tumors in the respiratory tract,
particularly the bronchi, and can invade surrounding structures, potentially spreading throughout the
body via the bloodstream and lymphatic system. CT Scan Thorax examinations are commonly
conducted to investigate and identify pathological conditions in the mediastinum or lungs. Scanning of
the thoracic region aims to visualize the thoracic cavity and provide the best imagery to display axial
and coronal cross-sections of the thorax, allowing for the assessment of opacities, causes, and types of
abnormalities in the thorax itself.
Research Method: This research employs a qualitative approach and descriptive methods. The
objective of this proposal is to analyze the procedures of the MSCT Scan Thorax examination
technique and evaluate the image quality for diagnosing lung tumors at RSUD dr. Zainoel Abidin,
Banda Aceh.
Results: The research findings indicate abnormalities in the thoracic region with indications of lung
tumors. The images demonstrate the growth of abnormal tissue or masses in the lungs, which can be
classified as benign or malignant.
Conclusion: CT scan of the thorax in cases of lung tumors is in accordance with the procedure and
does not require special preparation because it does not use contrast material. The results of the
analysis of the CT scan of the thorax in the case of lung tumors show that the right lung tumor has a
pattern and appears to be an isoden lesion with gas density.
