Radiologically, Mastoid CT scanning is a radiological examination designed to obtain
cross-sectional images of mastoid anatomy using CT scan modalities. In this matter, HighResolution Computed Tomography (HRCT) is a commonly employed technique in MSCT
Mastoid imaging, offering high-resolution visualization and detailed assessment of the temporal
bone anatomy through thin-slice imaging. MSCT scans are recognized as the primary imaging
modality for evaluating candidates for cochlear implantation.
This study adopts a descriptive method with case study approach and was conducted at
Radiology Department of dr. Zainoel Abidin Regional General Hospital, Banda Aceh, starting
from Desember 2024 up to Januari 2025. As for the data used herein, they were collected through
direct observation and evaluation of paediatric patients undergoing MSCT Mastoid scanning.
In conclusion, the evaluation of MSCT Mastoid imaging for cochlear implant planning in
paediatric patients undertaken at dr. Zainoel Abidin General Hospital successfully demonstrates
the anatomical structures of the cochlea. Therefore, the images can provide critical information
about potential abnormalities, facilitating the decision-making process for subsequent steps in
cochlear implant procedures.
