Abdominal trauma refers to injuries sustained by abdominal organs such as the
stomach, intestines, pancreas, liver, gallbladder, kidneys, and spleen. Meanwhile, MSCT
(Multi-Slice Computed Tomography) Abdomen 3-Phase is a precise imaging technique to
diagnose and evaluate any injuries to abdominal organs and detect active bleeding in the
abdominal cavity. On observations, MSCT Abdomen 3 Phase examination in patients with
blunt trauma cases to evaluate the presence of active bleeding, rupture of abdominal organs
and can assess abnormalities in the image of organs that appear in the artery phase, vein
phase and delay phase. This can also determine whether bleeding in the abdominal cavity
is caused by injury to the organ parenchyma or vascular injury.
Purposefully, this research was carried out by applying a qualitative method with
descriptive-analytical approach undertaken at Radiology Department of Dr. Zainoel Abidin
Regional General Hospital, Banda Aceh, starting from December 2024 up to January 2025.
As for the data collection methods, it includes among the other things observations of the
patients who meet the research criteria and direct interviews with radiology specialists and
radiographers.
Furthermore, MSCT Abdomen 3-Phase examination procedure for blunt
abdominal trauma includes patient preparation, handling, and pre-examination steps. In this
matter, analysis focuses on the examination procedure and imaging information,
particularly in evaluating abdominal organ anatomy for any signs of rupture, hematoma,
active bleeding, or recurrent haemorrhage. The detailed enhancement of contrast media
aids in identifying organ ruptures. In conclusion, this research highlights the essential role
of the MSCT Abdomen 3-Phase technique in diagnosing and assessing abdominal trauma,
providing critical insights into organ injuries and bleeding. This examination is considered
very effective in improving image quality and increasing the quality of health services and
safety of blunt abdominal trauma patients.
