Background of Research: thematically, this research takes the theme of brain MRI with clinical vertigo. In relation to which, the clinical diagnosis of vertigo is relatively easy, however in determining its specific location, it is more difficult. MRI is the most informative imaging method in making the evaluation of the patient with audio vestibular dysfunction, like disturbance of sensorineural hearing, tinnitus and vertigo.
Objective of Research: in view of that, this research aims to evaluate Brain MRI examinations with clinical vertigo starting from examination preparation, examination techniques up to assessing the quality of sequence images used undertaken at DR Drs. M.OHatta Brain Hospital Bukittinggi.
Design of Research: this research applies descriptive qualitative method. The research was undertaken at Radiology Installation of DRODrs M Hatta Brain Hospital Bukittinggi using a 1.5 Tesla Siemens Sempra MRI machine starting from October up to November 2023 with a total number of samples of 10 patients with clinical vertigo. As for the data, it was collected by carrying out observations, conducting interviews and questionnaires. The research instrument consists of among the other things observation worksheets, interview sheets, questionnaire sheets, documentation and Radiant DICOM Viewer. Furthermore, data processing is carried out by recording the flow and examination techniques on the observation sheet and thereafter, MRI image results will then be saved in the computer in DICOM form according to the results obtained. Meanwhile, to process questionnaire data is using a Likert scale.
Results of Research: this research concludes that in the examination preparation procedure, patient screening was accordingly conducted, the patient was positioned in supine position with head first on the examination table, the patient was fitted with headphones and given an emergency button and a head coil was attached with a central point in the middle of the glabella. Furthermore, the use of sequences in routine Brain MRI with a total of 13 (thirteen) sequences, namely Axial T2 TSE, DWI, Axial T2 TSE Dark Fluid, T2 SWI, Sagittal T1 TSE, Sagittal T2 TSE FS, Axial T1 TSE, Coronal T2 TSE, Coronal T1 TSE, Axial T1 TSE, Coronal, Sagittal + Contrast with cuts at the upper border of the vertex and the lower border of the cerebellum and T2 3D CISS axial isotropic sequences for the cuts used, namely at the level of the sponge, showing the vestibulocochlear cranial nerve (VIII). In conclusion, Brain MRI examination with clinical vertigo provides information that helps support the researcher in understanding the causes of vertigo, allowing for a more accurate and effective treatment approach.
