Background of Research: Medically, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide, accounting for about 11.7% of all cancer cases, and in Indonesia, about 16.6% of all cancer cases are identified. In view of that, treatment of breast cancer in women generally begins with surgery, either mastectomy or lumpectomy, as part of neoadjuvant treatment. During CT simulation processes, wire marker devices are used to locate where the tumor is located and mark the surgical site. Accordingly, surgical scar markers are important in planning 3D radiotherapy for CRT and IMRT radiotherapy to indicate microscopic areas of tumor spread that still needs to be taken into account in irradiation. The purpose of this research is to analyze the benefit of using a string scar marker in CT simulation procedures in breast cancer case.
Objective of Research: this research aims to analyze the examination - CT simulation of breast cancer case using string scar markers with iodine and analyzing the characteristics of string scar markers with iodine for breast cancer case.
Design of Research: For this research, a qualitative description research method was utilized with an observation approach.
Result of Research: this research shows that analysis using a string scar marker with iodine for CT simulation of breast cancer case undertaken in radiotherapy department at Siloam MRCCC Hospital covers among the other things the preparation of the patient, the preparation of tools and immobilization devices, patient setup and image acquisition, and the analysis of the characteristics of string breast scar markers on the image results.
