Pathogenically, hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) is a primary liver cancer originating from
hepatocyte cells, whereby ADC values provide good accuracy in distinguishing malignancy levels
in liver tumors. For that reason, the average ADC value can be obtained by placing Regio of
Interest (ROI) on the ADC map. In relation to which, the objective of this research is to determine
whether variations in ROI shape and size can significantly affect the Average ADC Value in liver
MRI in Hepatocellular Carcinoma case.
This research applies a quantitative retrospective method with a comparative experimental
approach to compare the three different shapes and sizes of ROI against the average ADC value in
Hepatocellular Carcinoma case. Meanwhile, the data were collected at Radiology Installation of
MRCCC Siloam Hospital Semanggi undertaken starting from November 2023, with a population
of HCC patients who had undergone MRI with DWI-ADC Map images. The sample consisted of
50 DWI and ADC Map images executed from January up to November 2023. To ascertain the
differences in average ADC values, statistical tests is accordingly applied by using SPSS Version
26, which was undertaken by using the Friedman test followed by the Dunnett post hoc test.
In conclusion, in Hepatocellular Carcinoma case, different ROI shapes and sizes (Freehand,
Circular, and Point Voxel) significantly influence the average ADC value. Apparently, there is a
significant difference between Point Voxel and Freehand ROIs; meanwhile there is no significant
difference between Freehand and Circular ROIs.
