Background of Research: experimentally, this research takes the theme of radiation protection in
non-contrast CT scan urography. Therapeutically, radiation protection is an action taken to reduce
the influence of damaging radiation caused by radiation exposure. Furthermore, Non-contrast CT
scan urography itself is an examination which is routinely used for detecting any abnormalities
happening in urinary tract. For that reason, radiation protection during such examination is
accordingly required as the effort of protecting the patient in order not to get any bigger dose
radiation than it should be accepted.
The objective of Research: this research aims to evaluate the radiation protection carried out
during non-contrast CT urography examination undertaken at Dr. Hasan Sadikin Central General
Hospital Bandung
Design of Research: this research uses a qualitative descriptive method by applying among the
other things observation, interviews and documentation approaches. This research was accordingly
undertaken at Radiology Installation of Dr. Hasan Sadikin Central General Hospital Bandung in
October 2023 by using CT Scan Phillips Scenaria 128 slices and number of samples are as many
as 30 patients who underwent non-contrast CT Urography. As for the data of this research
constitutes secondary data or the data of the patients who have been undergoing Non-contrast CT
Urography examination for long time namely starting from July up to September 2023.
Result of Research: this research suggests that radiation protection greatly depends on the role of
radiographer in determining the protocol, condition of tools used, coordination with radiology
doctor as well as an effective communication with the patient.
